Kente Cloth Paper Weaving – A Juneteenth Celebration of Heritage
Join us for a hands-on art activity that honors the vibrant traditions of African heritage through Kente Cloth Paper Weaving! Kente cloth, originating from the Ashanti and Ewe people of Ghana, is rich with cultural meaning and is often worn to symbolize pride, honor, and celebration.
In this interactive session, participants will learn about the history and symbolism behind Kente patterns and colors, then create their own paper versions using weaving techniques. This activity encourages creativity while sparking conversations about African ancestry, identity, and the importance of Juneteenth as a day of freedom and remembrance.Perfect for all ages—no prior art experience needed!
